BEFORE I WAS THE ARTIST
Before I really saw myself as the artist, I imagined writing songs for other people. I knew I could sing and make music, but I thought I’d be the one behind the records. Over time, some ideas started feeling like they belonged to me. Somewhere in that process, I started becoming the artist too. — Mike
IF YOU KNOW THIS ONE…
YOU MIGHT’VE HEARD THIS ONE BEFORE.
BUT IT DIDN’T START LIKE THAT.
FROM THE LAB / EARLY ITERATION
Before the version you know, there was this.
This was one of the earliest versions. What kept me coming back was that I wanted to use the idea of passion differently. After some iterations, we ended up with the one that many people are most familiar with (red room). I may still keep this one nonetheless.
WHAT’S NEXT
I’m still making. A lot. There’s a larger body of work being prepared that I’m looking forward to putting into the world. Some of it you’ll hear here before then. More soon.
DON’T MISS THE NEXT ISSUE.
When there’s something new here worth seeing, I’ll let you know.
